Rules Q&A
- Q: If a personality that has a Ranged Attack that does not require bowing (Tsuruchi Sho, for example) uses a Whistling Bulb Arrow with that attack, does the additional Ranged Attack require the personality to bow?
A: No. There is no cost to the second attack other than bowing and destroying Whistling Bulb Arrow. Jeff Alexander, "post for 2 May 2003", 3 May 2003 - Q: and Whistling Bulb Arrow?
A: The Personality it's on. Jeff Alexander, "post for 21 March 2003", 22 Mar 2003 - Q: No Hiding Place Reaction: Play before producing a Ranged Attack from exactly one of your attacking cards in the current battle to target a card in the defender's home with the Ranged Attack. The Ranged Attack has -1 strength.
Whistling Bulb Arrow Reaction: Bow and destroy whistling bulb arrow before this personality makes an uncombined ranged attack. The personality makes an additional consecutive ranged attack afterward, with a strength equal to this attack's base strength.
I was wondering about the timing of these two cards since they both trigger before the RA actually happens. Can I play No Hiding Place first, then the Arrow? I figure it was one RA at first so it fulfills the "from exactly one of your attacking cards" clause then it forks into two afterwards.
So which outcome can I play: No Hiding Place then Arrow? a) shoot 2 different units in his fief b) shoot 2 cards in the same unit in his fief
A: c) shoot one target in the Defender's home and then one opposing target, since the Whistling Bulb Arrow's shot does not acquire the targeting choices of the original shot. Jeff Alexander, "post for 18 June 2002", 20 Jun 2002 - Q: This question has recently arisen on deathseeker. Can Mukami/Nobumoto use a Whistling Bulb Arrow effectivley or, since he is home, he can't make the 2nd ranged attack?
A: The Bulb's attack comes immediately after the Personality's own, so it would happen before Nobumoto goes home. Jeff Alexander, "post for 29 May 2002", 30 May 2002 - Q: Can Mukami/Nobumoto use a Whistling Bulb Arrow effectivley[?]
A: Sure.
:;;;; Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 27 May 2002", 28 May 2002 - Q: 6.) Asako Misao has Teeth of Osano-Wo and a Whistling Bulb Arrow attached. He is in a battle and casts the Teeth for 3 ranged 3 attacks. If I destroy the Whistling Bulb Arrow, does he make one more ranged 3 attack or 3 more ranged 3 attacks?
A: One more Ranged 3 Attack. Jeff Alexander, "post for 8 April 2002", 9 Apr 2002
