Rules Q&A
- Q: Question: there are a number of strategies out there with the Winter keyword (e.g. The Snow Has Teeth). Once such a strategy is played and it exists in your discard pile (ie. it's not removed from the game), does it count as a winter card under your control for the purposes of Winter Sled?
A: Per the rules on card control, the card must be in play to be controlled. Therefore for the most part a strategy will not count as being controlled, unless it is currently in play (Deep Snows being the only currently legal example of such a card). Jon Palmer, "Winter Sled + Control and Winter Strategies", 13 May 2012 - Q: (Emphasis mine)
A personality (for example, a Qalyar) with a Winter Sled attached is target by Yasuki Daiki's Open ability, and the controller of Qalyar with Winter Sled chooses neither paying gold nor losing honor. Therefore when its controller declares an attack later that turn, that Qalyar with Winter Sled may not be assigned. But Winter Sled's controller has a Winter card, and later he tries to move Qalyar.
Does Winter Sled's "will not negate this personality's movement" override Daiki's "will not move " effect? Since "will not move" is prevention but different from negation, the answer apparently would be no. Am I correct?
A: You are correct. "Will not move" is stronger than negation, and therefore Winter Sled will not allow the Personality to move. Jon Palmer, "Winter Sled Vs Yasuki Daiki", 24 Apr 2012
