Rules Q&A
- Q: 1) To use the abbility of The First Dojo, can I bow Yasuki Hachi o Asahina Sezaka, or only Doji Kurohito?
A: "Clan Champion" is a special trait. You can break it up into "Clan" and "Champion," but you can not take the two traits for different parts of the card and mash them together to make a "Clan Champion."
Yasuki Hachi says: "Emerald Champion. Crab Clan. Crane Clan. Samurai. Double Chi. Magistrate. Experienced 2. Unique"
He is a "Crab Clan," "Crane Clan," and "Champion" card, but he is not a "Clan Champion."
Asahina Sekawa says: "Crane Clan Air Shugenja. Jade Champion. Experienced 2. Unique"
He is a "Crane Clan," and "Champion" card, but he is not a "Clan Champion."
Doji Kurohito says: "Crane Clan Champion. Samurai. Courtier. Double Chi. Experienced 2. Unique"
His is a "Clan Champion," card. Martin Lund, "Rules for 24 January 2005", 31 Jan 2005 - Q: 1. Yasuki Hachi issues his unrefusable challenge; the Dragon player casts Flee the Darkness. Since Hachi's duel is once per turn, does Hachi get the chance to challenge again at the next opportunity? Page 72 of the DE Rulebook, Cancelling Actions, seems to imply so.
A: Indeed it does, and indeed he can. Cancelation isn't so hot against Actions on cards in play that don't involve any sort of cost. Martin Lund, "Rules for 7 October 2004", 11 Oct 2004
