Rules Q&A
- Q: 2. My opponent attacks my provinces A and B with a Yogo Soto on each province. During battle at province A, he uses Soto's ability to switch location with the other Soto. As a reaction, he bows his stronghold and uses the Right Hand's ability on the Soto who's leaving prov A, trying to keep both Soto's in province A.
What happens?
a) Both Soto's end in province A. b) the move is simultaneous, which means canceling it will cancel the whole thing, each of the Soto's will stay in its province. c) Nakata, get off my list.
From the archive, B. Only the correct term here is "negate". The Right Hand does not cancel anything.
My apologies but I'm confused. On the 18th or 19th you rules on Luring Tactics:
Luring Tactics Tactical Battle: Move the performing Tactician you control and an opposing Personality from the current battle to an adjacent one.
[my question] If you cancel or negate the movement of a Lion personality performing the action, does it cancel or negate the movement of the opposing Personality targeted?
[your answer] "No. [DE p. 72] "
How is the Yogo Soto movement any different when it is negated?
A: Luring Tactics is two separate movements. Soto is "switching", which is also two movements but they're not entirely separate. Unless both movements happen, there is no "switch", so if one movement is stopped, the entire switch effect is stopped. Jeff Alexander, "rules for 1 March 2004", 2 Mar 2004 - Q: 2. Jeff Alexander, "rules for 24 Feb. 2004", 26 Feb 2004 - Q: I had Togashi Satsu bowed, and he ambushed him with Yogo Soto. I played Call to Arms in responce to the ambush, and unbowed Satsu. The way we read Ambush, he had to assign his unit because of the way Ambush targeted, and Satsu slaughtered Yogo Soto, and then bowed at the end of the Ambush. Did we do things correctly?
A: Soto did not have to be assigned. Someone on that side of the table had to be, but Call to Arms (which is perfectly legal here) occurs during Declaration, which is well before Assignment. Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 12 December 2003, Part 2", 13 Dec 2003 - Q: Yogo Soto´s ability is considered a movement?
A: Yes. Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 17 November 2003", 18 Nov 2003
