Rulings
- "You may not gain more than one Province per turn in this fashion" is absolute. You may not gain two in one turn by using a copy of Yoritomo (e.g., The Egg of P'an Ku). [DW, email, 29 October 1998] Rules Archive, August 18, 2007, p. 133
- Province gaining ability works for you if you are an attacking ally. [Card text] Rules Archive, August 18, 2007, p. 133
- His +1/+2 bonus for each weapon applies to himself, not to the weapon. [Card text] Rules Archive, August 18, 2007, p. 133
- Works for you even if you are an ally to the Attacker. [card text] Accumulated Rulings, February 8, 2000, p. 64
Rules Q&A
- Q: When I overlay Yoritomo Exp2 over Yoritomo Exp and then overlay Yoritomo exp3 over Exp2. What exactly can Yoritomo do and what does he do for the army if anything?
A: Traits replace, abilities add (Gold Edition ruilebook, pg. 36). Remember, "ability" means text prefaced by "Limited," "Open," "Battle," or "Reaction" (Gold Edition rulebook, pg. 33). Zen Faulkes, "Rules for 19 August 2003", 19 Aug 2003 - Q: Was discussing the old Yoritomo with Night medallion trick with someone recently and they mentioned some ruling that says that a personality cannot have more than 2 weapons. I tried looking for this but couldn't find it so am just wondering if it exists at all?
A: It does not exist. Jeff Alexander, "Rulings for 11 Jan 2001", 13 Jan 2001 - Q: Onto the questions -
1. This came up in a game recently. Apparently some in our gaming group believe that a battle does NOT occur at an attack on a province without defenders (question arose regarding the Province gaining ability of Yoritomo ex2 (...When Yoritomo's army destroys a Province in battle...) and for a certain Ratling Follower (...Ratling Conscripts, Reaction: If Conscripts are on the winning side of a battle...). I would have thought that a battle has occured at any time that you go through a battle action segment, which still happens if there are no defenders, could I get a final answer on this one?
A: The answer is yes, there is a battle at every province, regardless of whether or not there are defenders there. Heck, there's a battle at every province even when there's no one there. Vaughn Derderian, "Rules for January 10th", 10 Jan 2001 - Q: If I'm attacking with a Yoritomo Random at province 1 and with Tsuruchi Random at province 2 and I have the chance to go first on both battles (let's assume it's cause I have naval). If I resolve at province 1 and as my first battle action I attach a item on my Yoritomo peep there and chose not to make a aditional battle action. At province 2 if attach a card to my Tsuruchi peep can I now get a aditional battle action even if that were not my first battle action that attached something?
A: No. Zen Faulkes, "Eastern Hub Port and First Attachment.", 11 Sep 2007
