Rules Q&A
- Q: Can multiple personalities perform a naval action if only one of the performing personalities is Naval?
A: http://rules.l5r.com/Glossary_N#Naval: "In cases where multiple cards perform an action, only one need be Naval." Zen Faulkes, "Naval and Zamalash", 3 Oct 2007 - Q: If a Naval Ratling performs a printed Battle action during a naval invasion, can Zamalash copy, then perform that action if he does not have the Naval trait? Can he do so while at another battlefield?
A: It's a Reaction, so it only has to follow the rules for Reactions ( Reactions are not limited by Location or Presence, for instance), and whatever the text of the ability he's using is. Zen Faulkes, "Naval and Zamalash", 3 Oct 2007 - Q: Does Zamalash's "copy of the action" include the Limited bit, so that he can't copy a Limited action performed by an opponent's rat, or does he just ignore that?
A: His action is a Reaction, meaning it's legal whenever the trigger resolves, and resolves then, effectively giving you two actions in a row. Zen Faulkes, "Untested Scouts & Zamalash", 21 Apr 2005 - Q: Do the Untested Scouts give you a Reaction that lets you play a particular sort of Battle action, or do they let you play the terrain as a Reaction? That is, do the Untested Scouts let you ignore presence when playing the Terrain?
A: Reactions are not bound by Presence (Diamond rules, pg. 80). Zen Faulkes, "Untested Scouts & Zamalash", 21 Apr 2005 - Q: If Tik'tek is in a battle and uses his ability to toss three cards off your Fate deck to make the enemy leader toss 3 cards off their Fate deck, and Zamalash is in your Home, can Zamalash copy the action, or does he also have to be in a battle?
A: The Reaction causes him to perform the Battle action. That Battle Action still needs to be legal - abiding targeting restrictions, costs, and the Rule of Relevance.
If Tik'tek isn't in the Current Battle, his ability fails to meet the Rule of Relevance.
If Zamalash tries to perform the same ability, it will fail to meet the Rule of Relevance if he's outside the Current Battle. Martin Lund, "EomE Questions", 3 Apr 2005
