Rules Q&A
- Q: Player A has Paneki XP2 in play
PLayer B plays deranged Mujina, so everyone disard a random card from his opponent's hand.
Since the hand is visible, can player A choose the card he discard ?
A: It says, "random," not "face down."
Being able to see the hand changes nothing other than compromising the randomness of that player just yanking a card out of your hand. You can break out dice for it if you want to get picky, but taking a blind, random draw does not in any way realistically impact Paneki's ability in-game. The method you choose does not matter so long as the result is RANDOM. Martin Lund, "Rules for 7 January 2005", 12 Jan 2005 - Q: This question has to do with Hiruma Ryuchi's ranged attack.
Hiruma Ryuchi "Crab Clan Hunter * Samurai Battle: Once per battle, make a Ranged 2 Attack without bowing. This is a Ranged 4 Attack instead if it targets a Creature."
This is from the rulebook All Ancestors and Experienced cards are Unique. All Mujina and all cards printed with the Ratling trait are Creatures. All Creatures, all Oni, all Goblins, and all cards printed with the Naga trait are Nonhuman. All Skeleton, Skeletal, Zombie, and Necromancer cards are Undead. All Oni and Undead cards are Shadowlands cards.
Is a ranged attack against a shadowlands card considered to be made against a creature?
A: From the very rules you quote, the only traits that make something a Creature implicitly are "Mujina" and the PRINTED word "Ratling" (i.e., bringing Toku into play from a Warrens deck and playing Oath of Fealty will NOT turn him into a Creature). If it doesn't have the "Creature" or "Mujina" traits and it doesn't have the printed "Ratling" trait, Ryuchi's ranged attack strength against it is only 2.
