Rules Q&A
- Q: When this flips up, when exactly does it end?
The bolded text above says the third turn from now ends. So if say I put three markers on the card to mark each time a turn ends, do I take the first marker off on the end of the turn that this card flips?
Or because it says "from now", does it not start tracking turns until the following turn (ie, at the end of the third turn from the time the event flips, this event's given trait expires.)
A: http://rules.l5r.com/EE_Sequence_of_play#Turns_and_turn_order: "References to “turn” as a unit of time, such as “two turns from now” refer to the active player’s next turn."
To put it another way, the measurement of "your third turn from now" doesn't change, whether an Event's effects are ending at its beginning or its end.
So, just as Times of Strife would last through your current turn, through your next turn, and end when your second turn from its resolution BEGINS, so would Distant Expansion's effects last through your current turn, next turn, second turn from its resolution, and third turn from its resolution, ending when that turn ENDS; affecting effectively four of your Dynasty Phases.
I hope that helps. Brook Cunningham, "Distant Expansion: Huh?", 31 Jul 2012
