Rules Q&A
- Q: I was wondering if I pay with platinum mine for the attachment which costs 2G, how much gold left I will have to spend this phase , three or four?
Platinum Mine
This Holding has +1GP when it pays for a single attachment only.
many thanks
A: You may have the Platinum Mine produce 6G, which may only be used to pay for a single attachment, after which anything left over is lost.
OR
You may have the Platinum Mine produce 5G, which is spent and enters your gold pool normally.
If you're paying for an attachment that costs 4G or less, you will always want to choose the second option, which leaves you with 5 minus the gold spent in your pool. Jon Palmer, "platinum mine and excessive gold", 13 Jul 2015 - Q: Relevant Text: Platinum mine Text: Bow this card: Produce 5 Gold, or 6 Gold if paying for an attachment.
Celestial Sword of the Mantis Battle: Pay zero or more Gold: Give this Personality a Force bonus equal to the amount paid plus two, or Melee Attack with strength equal to twice the amount paid.
Does platinum Mine produce 5 or 6 gold when paying for this action?
A: You answer the question yourself. The force bump/melee attack on the Mantis Sword is paid for by paying for an action, not an attachment (in that sense, a holding that produces extra for an action will pay extra for it). Platinum Mine will only produce 5 for the action. Jon Palmer, "Platinum Mine and Celestial Sword of the mantis", 12 Nov 2012
