Rules Q&A
- Q: I have basic M'rika and I overlay M'rika exp from province unto her, I can't proclaim can I?
A: Per the CR on Overlay, the Personality being overlaid does not enter play. This means there's no trigger for the Proclaim player ability. So you cannot. Jon Palmer, "Overlay and proclaiming", 27 Oct 2013 - Q: Am I right to assume I can't proclaim her when she comes in this way...right?
A: You're correct:
Player abilities (emphasis mine):
"(Proclaim) Reaction: After you bring a Personality in your province with your Clan alignment into play without Clan discount, if it is your turn: Gain Honor equal to his base Personal Honor." Brook Cunningham, "Sacrifice of Pawns into a M'rika", 27 Oct 2013 - Q: So lets assume my M'rika dies for whatever reason and I play Feign Death to keep her alive. Do I gain the 2 honor from her trait before she is dishonored, or do the two cancel each other out?
A: You gain the 2 honour, then dishonour her.
Feign Death: "Reaction: After the resolution of an action or a battle that destroyed a performing Personality you own: Bring him into play (in your home), ignoring costs and Honor Requirement. Bow him. Dishonor him. Lose 2 Honor."
M'rika: "After M'rika enters play: Gain 2 Honor."
M'rika's trait is triggered by her entering play, which means it happens immediately after this, before any other effects occur - unless they are also triggered by her entering play. The bowing, dishonouring and honour loss are *not* triggered by her entering play, but are further, sequential effects of Feign Death.
See Timing, Triggers. Alex Jones, "M'Rika and Feigned Death", 16 Aug 2013 - Q: viewtopic.php?f=59&t=102385
The player using the Mask is aware that the personality being brought into play will be dead before the resolution of the Masks' ability. Therefore, he does not fulfill the section stating 'the player must be able to meet all requirements to bring those cards into play legally', since the Mask will not be able to attach on resolution?
Or can you explain why this doesn't apply here.
A: The Good Faith rule requires cost be able to be played and a legal Personality be chosen for the attachment. The fact that she dies before the action's resolution just makes one effect fail. Jon Palmer, "M'Rika and Paneki's Mask followup", 17 Mar 2013 - Q: Paneki's Mask Limited: If this card is in your hand, target your dead Personality who was in play during your last turn: Bring him into play, ignoring costs and restrictions, and permanently give him Shadowlands • Undead. Attach this card to him (you must pay its cost). Lose 3 Honor.
M'rika After M'rika enters play: Gain 2 Honor
if M'rika is dead for having chi 0, can i use paneki mask infinite times to bring her into play and win 2 x infinite honor?
A: Not infinite, as the rules on infinite loops say you have to state a number of times. However, "2 million times" would be perfectly appropriate and work. Jon Palmer, "Alderac Entertainment Group • View topic - Mrika and Paneki's Mask", 17 Mar 2013
