Click a card in the search results, a list or a link to open it in Card details. The address bar then points at that card (and that printing), so the link can be shared.
Moving around
- The arrows beside the card's name go to the previous and next search result. So do the arrow keys, and a sideways swipe on a phone (Settings → Gestures can turn the swipe off).
- X goes back to where you were. Escape does the same.
- The globe beside the name shows the public lists that have this card.
Versions
A card can have several printings: the same card in different sets, sometimes with different art, flavor text or wording. The Versions buttons list them as (number) set / rarity. Click one to show its image and details. The one marked * is the main version, whose wording is the card's current text.
Each printing's own set, rarity, flavor text, artist and so on are listed below the card's details.
Card backs
Under the card's image is a small picture of its back. Click it to see the back full size, and again for the front.
- Printed back (with a gold edge): this card has a back of its own, like the story backs of the Time of the Void strongholds or the double-sided Ivory strongholds.
- Back: Fate Card Back (Old) and the like: the ordinary back cards of that set were sold with. open goes to that back.
When a version was printed more than one way (different art or typesetting in the same set), each print is shown full size, marked Print 1 of 2, Print 2 of 2. Each print has its own back thumbnail, so a second print is never mistaken for a back.
Foil
A printing that came in foil carries a foil mark, on its Versions button, in its details and in search results:
- ✦ Foil (rainbow): this printing was only ever printed in foil, such as a foil promo. Its image shows the mark too.
- ✦ Also foil (outlined): this printing came both regular and in foil, such as a booster rare that also turned up as a foil.
A foil promo is its own printing, even when it looks just like the regular card. Hover over a mark to see what it means.
Printed text or current text
When the page shows one printing, its text can be either the wording printed on that card or the card's current wording (its latest version, with errata). The Printed text / MRP text button at the top of the text switches between them for the rest of your visit. Settings → Display sets which one new visits start with.
Click to search
Many values on the card are links: a clan, a type, a keyword, an artist. Clicking one searches for every card with it, keeping the rest of your search form.
In L5R a clan has its mon beside it, here and in search results and Public lists, the way each legality has its arc bug. A deck's name starts with its Stronghold's mon, in your lists, in Public lists and when you open it.
An artist works a little differently: clicking the name opens a small box with Search cards by that artist, then the artist's own pages (portfolio, gallery, social media) where we know them. Links marked "archived copy" go to an old saved copy of a site that is gone.
Rulings
Rulings collects official rulings, FAQ answers and errata for the card. Many end in a link to the rulebook or FAQ page they come from: hover over the link to see that page, marked where the ruling is (on a phone, press and hold it), and click it to open the page. Open in the Bookshelf takes you to that place in the Bookshelf.
A card with many rulings shows the first three: Show N more lists the rest, and Show fewer goes back. The arrow by the Rulings label folds the whole list away to Show N rulings; click that (or the arrow again) to bring them back.
Rules Q&A
The answers from the rules team button lists answers the official rules team gave about this card: from the old mailing-list rules digests, AEG's rules forum and the rules channels on the L5R Discord servers. Click one to read it where it was posted, with the question it answered. A few answers from experienced players who aren't officials start "Unofficial answer:"; they're only on cards with no other rulings.
Traits and keywords in the rulebooks
Keywords and traits that the rulebooks define (Cavalry, Kharmic, Experienced and so on) are linked to those rules. A small book after a keyword, or a dotted line under a word in the text, means there's a rule for it: hover (or press and hold) to read the rule, click to open the rulebook at that page. Where several rulebooks define it, you choose which one; the rulebook that matches the printing shown comes first.
Adding the card to a list
With a list active (see Decks and lists), the bottom of the card has
- and − buttons for it: one row for the card in general, and one for each printing, so you can keep track of exactly which versions you have.
Latest updates
Latest updates at the bottom shows what was changed on this card and when.
